Kansai Gaidai Reception

On November 29, the Bridging Foundation, together with Kansai Gaidai, hosted a special reception for our scholars to get to know one another and to share advice on embarking on a Japan-related career. Of the 15 current Bridging Scholars and one recent alumni who joined, five were from Kansai Gaidai with the others students from Doshisha University, Osaka University, Ritsumeikan University, and Okayama University.

At the beginning of the event, Stephen Zurker, Professor of the Department of Foreign Studies, Head of the Department of International Students at Kansai Gaidai offered a speech, sharing his own experiences and giving advice on building a Japan-related career. Following Stephen’s talk, Tom Mason, Executive Director of the Bridging Foundation, spoke about his career and also offered advice to the scholars.

Following the more formal presentations, the scholars had the opportunity to network and ask questions. It was a lovely get-to-know-you event. Special thanks to our hosts Stephen Zurker and Yoshihisa Nishimura at Kansai Gaidai for so generously hosting and coordinating.
