The Friendship Blossoms–Dogwood Tree Initiative flourishes.  Only one year into this initiative, we’ve accomplished much thanks to our many generous sponsors and partners.  From UPS’s expert logistical support and transport to Japan to several planting ceremonies throughout Japan to cultivating the next generation of global leaders and nature lovers, the ties between Japan and the U.S. are growing stronger…one tree at a time.

Thanks to you, this partnership is thriving.  Just one year into this three-year initiative, we have already accomplished the following:

  • 90% of our funding goal reached
  • Paige_and_colleagues

  • 1,850 trees purchased, inspected for health and safety, and shipped to Japan – arriving in beautiful health
  • 800 trees planted at 11 sites in Tokyo, Aichi, Iwate, Kanagawa, Mie, and Nagasaki Prefectures
  • 500 people attended events including corporate sponsors, Japanese and U.S. government officials, community members, local youth, and Bridging Foundation scholars
  • 42 applications received from organizations in Japan, requesting a total of 1,978 trees
  • 12 corporate partners with additional sponsorship recruitment underway
